Windows 10: web browsing timeouts to amazon.com after my network was upgrade. Other PCs in the house...

My external network connection at my home was recently upgraded, but the router and my PC's connection to the router were not touched. Since then, other computers in my home eg. my kid's computers are just fine, but when I browse amazon.com, I get slow page displays and sometimes incomplete page displays. This happens for the MS Edge, Firefox, and Chrome browsers. Looking at debug information from web developer tools in Firefox and Chrome, I can see lots of messages like: In Chrome - "HTTP error: status code 400, net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE" In Firefox - NS_BINDING_ABORTED I'

Google DNS is a good thing to test, which is why it is commonly suggested. *Wink

As I explained before, ISP DNS servers can cause issues, go down, and not be updated to your device providing DNS. If you want to go a step further, login to your router and set the DNS servers uses and provides over DHCP to the Google DNS and remove the ISP DNS servers. Be done with it.

I also strongly recommend OpenDNS servers for safer browsing, especially if you're not into browsing malicious, porn or questionable sites. 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.222.222. Those are what I use at home...effective DNS filtering to keep many bad sites that are flagged with malware out of your home network and web browsers. Free and effective.

At this point if its working, I'd say use it for a day and see if issues come back...if so then the other things I suggested might be worth looking at.

Quick DNS 101

DNS = Domain Name Servers... what it does is take what you type in your web browser, or for ping, or some name domain request...take Techpowerup.com. DNS takes that and looks into an index/cache to find out what address it is...say 123.123.123.123 and then sends the reply to the ping session, web browser, etc. so you can go to Techpowerup.com.

DNS is like a phone book, you look up a person's name for their phone number to call them and connect. DNS does that for web sites and services. It is critical for web site usage where everyone can remember domain names, but not IP addresses.

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.
