Webcam disappeared possibly due to update of servicing stack 10.0.19041.1220

Hi, the integrated webcam on my HP Probook stopped working a few weeks ago. By now it has also disappeared from the device manager.-as info: my windows version is Windows 10 - 21H1 Build 19043.1266.The last time it worked, was in mid-September. Looking at my windows updates since then, I saw the webcam worked prior to the installaition of the servicing stack 10.0.19041.1220 and did not work afterwards. Could it be possible that this is the cause of the problem? In an attempt to solve the problem, I went through the recommended steps: I have de-installed the antivirus program, checked my priva

  3. Webcam had disappeared

    Hi,

The webcam may have stopped working due to hardware failure, or a loose cable that connects it to the device’s motherboard. We suggest that you try to show hidden devices in
Device Manager by following these steps:

    • Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
    • Click on the View tab and select Show hidden devices.

If you are seeing the webcam drivers, uninstall them. Then restart your device to check if Windows will be able to recognize the webcam and will install the drivers.

Let us know how it turns out.

    servicing stack updates

    Hi Neville,

Servicing stack updates are not listed in the Update History. A workaround is to install the newest cumulative update, which requires your device to have the latest servicing stack update Installed. If it says the update is not applicable provided it is for
your version and architecture, it probably would mean you do not have the latest SSU.

    Hope that helps.
