Windows 10: Webcam keeps turning off but only when using MS Teams

Hello all,


Like a lot of people working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic I am using virtual meetings a lot and as a part of that I rely on my webcam to assist with these virtual meetings. My webcam seems to work flawless with all conference applications like Zoom and GoToMeeting and works without fail for other online applications like www.webcamtoy.com but when it comes to MS Teams I run into a problem.


Basically the meeting will start, my webcam turns on and everything is running smoothly but randomly during the meeting the webcam will just shut off. Now according to the MS Teams webcam icon it shows as still active not grayed out with the off icon displayed so in order to fix it I have to click the webcam icon to manually shut it off and then click it a second time to turn it back on.


There is no pattern to this, sometimes it takes 5-10 minutes to do it and sometimes it will do it 4 times in a row. It's totally random.


Any idea what is happening here?

Webcam keeps turning off and on again

Hi,

I have the same problem as reported in this question: Webcam camera keeps turning on and off .
It does not seem to have been resolved. My webcam also keeps turning off and on again every few seconds. I have run dxdiag as suggested in that question but this reports "no problem found." The problem occurs regardless of whether I am just using
the camera app or running a meeting in Teams.

When I look in the event viewer, I see two events occurring every few seconds.

I can see in event viewer that I am getting event id 7034,
The Windows Camera Frame Server service terminated unexpectedly. I also see an Event 1000 linked to this with faulting svchost.exe_Framserver, Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Realtek\RsProviders\RsProvider.dll.

I have tried uninstalling recent windows updates, reinstalling and/or rolling back drivers, resetting the Camera app. Nothing has fixed the problem. Any suggestions for a fix would be welcome.
I am not sure when the problem started but my camera was definitely OK about 2 months ago.

The integrated camera is from SunplusIT. The driver is from them, version 5.0.18.21. There is a later version of the driver, 5.0.18.37 , which was installed when I detected the problem. Rolling
back the driver to 5.0.18.21 did not fix the problem.

 

My Webcam is not working with Microsoft Teams

I have gone into settings as you said.

Microsoft Teams is listed under 'Some desktop apps might not appear in the following list or are not affected by this setting' which comes under the 'Allow desktop apps to access your camera'.

The Webcam works with the following apps: -

Windows Camera app

Skype (from Microsoft)

Zoom

I have checked that my Kaspersky software and it is allowing access by Teams to the Webcam. I uninstalled the Webcam driver and then reinstalled it.

As the Webcam works with all other apps then I believe it must be the interaction with Teams and my Webcam.

Please advise next steps please.

So it appears that toast notifications for Microsoft Teams cannot be disabled, still keep the taskbar icon flashing. It's possible the toast notifications still appearing, in the Activity Center even after they are turned off for all applications, is actually a bug with Microsoft Teams though.
