Windows 10: Webcam light

Discus and support Webcam light in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I am using Windows 11 and I would like to simply turn the little webcam indicator light off.     Webcam light


    I am using Windows 11 and I would like to simply turn the little webcam indicator light off. Is there a way to do that without disabling the camera? When I use the camera with the led indicator it make the video quality a little bit brighter when it is on and back to normal when it is off and it blinks. It isn't a major issue but I would like to turn it off if that is at all possible. If not, does anyone know of a way to fix the camera so it doesn't do that? It's a great HD Webcam but I would like to fix the blinking problem.

    Hi Wendy,

    This is a common concern when the camera is not plugged in properly. To further isolate the root cause, provide information on the following:

    • Tell us more on what's happening when you try the camera. (black screen, no lights, no power, etc)
    • Is this happening on Skype only and not on other apps?
    • Tell us any troubleshooting steps you've done for us to avoid repeating it.

    For now, we suggest following Skype's support article regarding this type of concerns.

    Webcam light coming on by itself


    Alright so this is making me a fair bit suspicious. Every now and then the webcam light on my laptop comes on even when I have no programs running that run webcams (e.g. Skype).

    I disabled the driver for the webcam and the light turned off, did a restart, and then enabled the driver again. When I did, the light wasn't on.

    Is this a system glitch or is it something I should be worried about? I've already run programs like MalwareBytes, CCleaner, and Avast to see if there was any issue, but nothing came up.
