Windows 10: webcam/mic quit working after windows 10 version 2004 update

My external webacm and mic stopped working after the Win 10 version 2004 upgrade on 8/19/20.


I have tried the following w/o success:

1. ensured camera was set to allow apps to view it
2. plugging the webcam in diff usb port
3. uninstalling/reinstalling the device, checking for new hardware, updating the driver
4. rolling back the windows 20 version 2004 update, made removable usb recovery drive first
5. tried regsitry update suggested made backup of it before hand of creating 32 bit DWORD value named EnableFrameServerMode under the following folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform .......I am going to undo this and not save the changes because the reference I found from you tube yes I acknowledge that is a 'use at your own risk" sceanario said if you have 64 bit machine; which I do to also add same entry under folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform but that folder does not exist and there is only Internet Explorer subfolder under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft

I am totally at a loss at this point. Any other suggestions?

Webcam quit working

The webcam in my HP Probook 4720s quit working after the latest update of windows 10, says it cannot find the webcam.

 

WEBCAM MIC does not working on Windows 10

I have spoken directly with Microsoft technicians, multi technicians, who want to give the appearance they are not familiar with Windows 10 and Webcam "mics" not working on Windows 10. I have researched personally every option I can find, nothing has corrected
it. Microsoft technical support "cannot" correct the issue. This is quite apparent an issue with WINDOWS 10 yet no fix after nearly 2 years.

I only became aware of the mic issue when attempting to establish Skype to communicate with my parents. Now I find this is a none issue to it appears, the rest of the World yet others who have posted have been advised by Microsoft technicians to switch
back to older versions of Windows.

Does Bill Gates still own Microsoft? All of his philanthropic efforts worldwide are greatly appreciated but does he care that "the thing" that made him wealthy--IS BROKEN!

I am in the midst of another attempt with Microsoft technical support, told my case #1384.....4 has been escalated to Tier II support.

I have a Logitech C920 webcam. I have attempted every fix youtube and google suggest. Does anyone have anything else to share to

help my mic work? thanks

 

Mic/Webcam set up

Hi,
My wife is working from home, she's using her Win 10 Samsung laptop, but struggling for webcam & mic set up.

This is pictures of whats happening. first one is the error, 2nd is the options, then the next 2 are in the security when you click manage, just can't get them to work, say drivers are all up to date and both are enabled in device manger, she's got a mic/headset from her work and this works, but still no webcam.
