  1. Webcam no longer works--it did work--even with new Skype version--but stopped

My USB 2.0 webcam no longer works with Skype. I updated to the new version of Skype, and it worked fine at first. Now, my computer no longer recognizes this device. I checked the Device functions under Hardware "USB 2.0 2MP UVC AF Camera" for both "Imaging Device" and "Sound, Video" and when I double-click each of these, I get messages under "Events" for both of them as follows: "Imaging Device": Device USB\VID_04F2&PID_A138&MI_00\7&85a2b6e&0&0000 requires further installation. "Sound, Video": Device USB\VID_04F2&PID_A138&MI_02\7&85a2b6e&0&0002 requires further installation.

What kind of further installation is required? I tried unplugging and replugging the USB cable, but that didn't work. I know Microsoft says that some older cameras won't work with the new Skype, but it did work at first. Now, the device isn't even recognized by Windows 10 for anything. Any solutions?

    :)

    Skype webcam sound won't work

Terminate Skype, then go to Control panel -> Sound and audio devices -> Audio -> un-check "Use only default devices", restart Skype and see if the webcam audio input is listed.

Webcam stopped working on XPS 2720 when upgraded to Win 10

The Dell XPS 2720 is an all-in-one with an integrated webcam. Skype worked perfectly on Win 7 but since I upgraded to Win 10 I can no longer make video calls. To eliminate Skype as the source of the problem, I tried a third party product (www.testwebcam.com) as well as the Win 10 inbuilt Camera App. Both exhibited the same behaviour as Skype, i.e. the webcam light came on but no image appeared on the display screen, it remained dark.

In an effort to fix the problem I tried the following:

    1. Logged onto the Dell site and updated the drivers. Five were installed but it had no effect.

    2. Ran the Win 10 Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter. No webcam issues were reported.

    3. Using the Control Panel Device Manager, expanded the list of Imaging Devices, clicked on Integrated Webcam listed there, uninstalled it, and rebooted the machine. That had no effect.

    4. Uninstalled Skype and reinstalled the latest version in a last ditch attempt to fix the problem, which needless to say didn't work.

That's exhausted my ideas. Would very much appreciate your help.
