    Webcam problem - 0xA00F4241 0xC00DABE7 - How to fix?

    Hi,

I have been using the Canon EOS Webcam Utility on Windows 10, which allows you to use a Canon DSLR as a webcam.

It has been working fine with the Windows Camera App, up until now. I get the error "0xA00F4241<CameraSwitchFailed> 0xC00DABE7" when I try to switch to that camera. It also ramps up the CPU usage when it happens.

I have been in touch with Canon who advise that it is a Windows issue. Is there any way I can find out what the problem is, what that error code means, and how to fix it?

    Thanks

    J.

    :)

    Hello!

I'd like to ask for help using the Windows Camera. I keep getting the error :

    Can't start your camera

If you're sure the camera is connected and installed properly, try checking for updated drivers.

If you need it, here's the code:

    0xA00F4241<CameraSwitchFailed> (0x800706BE)

My ASUS tablet has two cameras. The front-facing camera works, but if I try the world-facing one, i encounter that error.

So far I've tried the following:

    1. Uninstall, reinstall, and update drivers
    2. Full reset of Windows, then uninstall, reinstall, and update drivers
    3. Privacy settings
    4. Disable Windows Defender / Firewall
    5. EnableFrameServerMode workaround (breaks the front camera too)
What is interesting is that the world-facing camera works when I try it on Skype or Viber.

I saw the following errors in the Event Viewer:

    Code:
Faulting application name: svchost.exe_FrameServer, version: 10.0.18362.1, time stamp: 0x32d6c210

    Faulting package-relative application ID:
I am on Version 1909, Build 18363.815. DxDiag shows 3 video capture devices, 1 front, 1 rear, and 1 IR camera....

Could this be a driver issue? If so, how can I upgrade the ones I already have? Windows Update says there are no new updates.

    Thanks!

  3. Webcam Problems?

Step One - go back to your computer mfgr's support site, register, and download the latest drivers and chipset software. When I visited Dell I found 9 as of yet uninstalled updates for my two yr old laptop!

Visit Adobe and check which version of Flash Player you're running, and D/L the latest version.

You should be good to go. Your webcam's controlled by your web browser but also authorized and either blocked or allowed by the identity software of sites you visit. Here's Coursera's instructions for fixing identity verification problems:

If you're having trouble with your webcam:

    1. Check that your webcam is enabled and connected to your computer. Try a third-party tool like testwebcam.com -&nbspThis website is for sale! -&nbsptestwebcam Resources and Information..
    2. Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
    3. Check that you have the latest version of your browser or try using a different browser.
    4. If you’re using an external webcam, verify that you've installed your webcam's most recent driver software from the manufacturer.
    5. Try refreshing the page.
    6. Try switching to HTML5 webcam access by clicking the Switch to HTML5 link in the lower right hand corner of the webcam window.
If you see a dialogue box entitled Adobe Flash Player Settings:

    1. Click Close
    2. Click Allow
If the webcam area is blank:

    1. Right click on webcam area
    2. Select Settings
    3. In the Settings menu, click the webcam icon and change the camera option to match the webcam you are using
Note to Google Chrome users: If the webcam area on the page is blank, and you can't access the Flash settings menu, click the small camera icon to the right of your browser bar and select "Always allow Coursera - Free Online Courses From Top Universities to access your camera and microphone."
To allow Flash access manually (in Google Chrome):

    1. Type chrome://plugins into your browser bar
    2. Find the Adobe Flash Player plugin
    3. Check Always allowed
    4. Quit Chrome and restart

webcam AN-VC500 error 0xA00F4246 (0xC00DABE7) in Camera app

    Hello,

I have a fresh instalation of Windows 10 Aniversary update (1607) with all updates applied.

I plugged an AN-VC500 webcam into an USB port and drivers for it were automatically installed.

When I start the Camera app, the error cannot start camera 0xA00F4246 (0xC00DABE7) is displayed.

When I start the webcam test of Skype Preview app, no picture is shown. The audio call test Works.

The video test of desktop Skype works perfectly.

I've tested it on 2 computers. Both give the same results.

What the error code means and what I can do about it ?
