Windows 10: Webcam really buggy and flickering on pc. but completely fine on laptop

Im on my pc 5700x + 6650xt, everything completely updated, all latest drivers but webcam is buggy and flickering both logitech c270 and cheap qtniue off amazonBut when i plug them into my laptop i7-11370H + 3070 they are both completely fine, no issues, clear no flicker whatsoeverTried a bunch of generic solutions i could find but they were for light flickering and not the camera itselfonly thing i can think of is that its some application or something thats messing with it but i dont know what and i dont want to have to reinstall windows and risk losing an unknown amount of stuff unless

Webcam flickers when connected via monitor

So I've got a bit of a dock setup where I have a Lenovo monitor with all my peripherals connected - mouse, keyboard, speakers, and Logitech webcam - and I swap out my various laptops as needed.

The problem is that when I have a Windows 10 laptop connected, I get heavy flickering from the webcam. The same webcam works fine if directly connected to the laptop and, more to the point, works fine when I have a Linux laptop connected to the monitor.

I've tried the usual steps of uninstalling and reinstalling the webcam (and the monitor) in the Device Manager to no avail. Since the webcam works fine when connected directly to the laptop, my assumption is that it isn't a driver issue, but because it works fine with Linux, it also seems like it's some sort of software issue with Windows, rather than, say, the USB-C connection not being able to handle the monitor at the same time as all the connected peripherals.

Any suggestions?

 

My ToLuLu webcam flickers continuously

I use Microsoft Windows 10 OS. I changed my laptops recently.

When I changed my laptop, my webcam started flickering continuously. I see that flicker happening on all the video apps (Zoom, Teams, Chime etc.)

It literally made my webcam useless.

But when I connected the same webcam to my old laptop, it is working fine. So it looks like it has to do with laptop rather than the webcam. Can you help me with the settings if I'm missing some configuration

This is Wil, one of the independent advisor, an expert with Windows 10 and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I understand your concern about installing webcam on MSI laptops.

Most laptops have a built-in webcam on it, If it's not working, there's a problem with the driver or settings of it.

Step1: I request you to check for Hidden Devices in Device Manager. Please refer to these steps:

a. On the desktop, press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.

b. Click on View and select Show Hidden Devices.

c. Check for the webcam under Imaging Devices.

d. If the webcam is listed, then right-click on it and select Update Driver Software.

e. Select Browse My Computer for Driver Software and follow the prompted steps.

Step 2: Run the hardware troubleshooter and check if you receive any error messages.

a. On the desktop, press Windows key + W and type Troubleshooting.

b. Click on it and click on Hardware and Sound.

c. Click on Hardware and Devices and follow the prompted steps.

If the laptop doesn't have a built-in webcam on it, you would need to purchase an external webcam, plug it on your laptop and driver will download automatically.
