Windows 10: Webcam refusing to produce video images.

Have a Logitech C270 webcam purchased some time ago. Not been in use for quite a while but decided to get it working again as we are now isolating at home due to Covid-19


My son has set up a group on Windows Teams and we tried an experimental call yesterday. Audio contact is fine but the video output is non- existent. The inbuilt Microsoft Camera app is also affected and cannot pick up the webcam.


After much searching I discovered that this has been a common problem after the Windows 10 1803 update. Subsequently I have tried all the suggested fixes - Unplugging and re-plugging the camera, unistalling and re-installing the drivers, ensuring that the Privacy settings are turned on to allow Windows 10 to access the camera and the most drastic - modifying the registry HKEYLOCALMACHINE/Software/WOW6432Node/Microsoft/WindowsMediaFoundation/Platform and adding the DWORD 32bit value - EnableFrameServerMode


Again this failed to produce a fix


The only slight glimmer of hope is that one or two people have advised that when you are reviewing the Privacy setting for the camera, you should make sure that the Win32WebViewHost app/value is checked. My problem is that this app/value does not appear in the camera option in my Privacy settings.


Does anyone know where to locate it and turn it on in the privacy settings area?

Imaging Devices missing in Device Manager and Webcam doesn't working

Hi,

Since you mentioned that the said driver is missing in Device Manager, what we suggest is for you to check in the Hidden Devices section on Device Manager. Kindly follow the steps below:

• On the desktop, press Windows key + X and select
  Device Manager.
• Click on View and select
  Show Hidden Devices.
• Check for the webcam under Imaging Devices.
• If the webcam is listed, then right-click on it and select
  Update Driver Software
• Select Browse My Computer for Driver Software and follow the prompted steps.

Toshiba Webcam not working & not in imaging devices

Unfotunately, I can't make it past #2 because I can't find the webcam under Imaging devices or Sound, video and game controllers. I have clicked "show hidden devices" and it still isn't there. Any ideas on what to do if it's not there?

webcam records audio but no video

The webcam's functionality may be affected by the settings of the application you're using. The webcam's settings and the application settings can collide. We'd like to ask a few questions to help us identify why there's no video output:

• What applications are you using with the webcam?
• To avoid repetition, can you provide us all the troubleshooting steps that you've done so far?
• Are you getting any error messages or return codes when using the webcam?
