    Webcam stops working shortly after restart


    Hello,


    Just since a few days my build in laptop webcam works for like 5 seconds after a restart and the stops working. I get the error that the webcam got unplugged. Wenn I reopen the camera app it shows the error: No camera attached.


    What can I do? The webcam also doesn´t appear in device manager. On 23.01. windows installed an update, but on monday after the update the webcam still worked.

    Hi,

    The webcam may have stopped working due to hardware failure, or a loose cable that connects it to the device’s motherboard. We suggest that you try to show hidden devices in
    Device Manager by following these steps:

    • Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
    • Click on the View tab and select Show hidden devices.

    If you are seeing the webcam drivers, uninstall them. Then restart your device to check if Windows will be able to recognize the webcam and will install the drivers.

    Built in webcam stopped working - was it a hacker?

    Shortly after purchasing my new laptop and using the webcam, my camera stopped working. Was it hacked or is this something that happens often? I have had aother instance on another HP computer where the webcam stopped working all together as well

    This issue can occur if the camera drivers are not up-to date, your anti-virus may be blocking the camera, or camera app is not installed properly. I would suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article:
