Imaging Devices missing in Device Manager and Webcam doesn't working

    Hi,

Since you mentioned that the said driver is missing in Device Manager, what we suggest is for you to check in the Hidden Devices section on Device Manager. Kindly follow the steps below:

    • On the desktop, press Windows key + X and select
      Device Manager.
    • Click on View and select
      Show Hidden Devices.
    • Check for the webcam under Imaging Devices.
    • If the webcam is listed, then right-click on it and select
      Update Driver Software
    • Select Browse My Computer for Driver Software and follow the prompted steps.
Please post back with the result for further assistance

My webcam started displaying a black and white picture on Windows 10

    Hi Luke,

There are various reasons why your webcam displays black and white images. One of the possible causes is an outdated driver. For us to better isolate the issue, kindly answer the following questions:

    • What troubleshooting steps have you taken to get this resolved?
    • Did you encounter the same issue when you tried to connect it to another computer?

Meanwhile, we recommend that you follow the steps provided in this article: Camera app and webcams help. This will provide you
solutions on some issues with your webcam by stopping all app's processes and installing driver updates.

Update us with the outcome and if you need further assistance.

    Regards.

Webcam unable to display image after Windows update to 20H2

Why my NB505 webcam doesn't display any image?

If the webcam shows a "Device status" in Device Manager of "This device is working properly" and the Toshiba software doesn't give you a picture, odds are that the hardware itself has a problem (I assume that the lens opening isn't mechanically blocked --
which is something that a lot of people have done for privacy purposes).

There are a number of online webcam test sites. Some work better than others. These two worked for me:

However, before you try those, consider the following.

Before I give advice in this forum, if I haven't actually run into the particular issue, I try to test any advice I'm about to give. I tried both of those sites and they worked with my USB-connected Logitech webcam.

I then tried a couple of other sites that didn't seem to work ... and when I returned to the two sites above, they no longer worked either. The Logitech webcam software that had been installed on my Windows 7 system also no longer
worked -- it reported that it couldn't detect a webcam.

When I looked in Device Manager, I saw that there was now an "Unknown USB device" in the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" category. Previously, there was an entry for my webcam in this category.

None of the usual tricks worked: uninstall the unknown device and reboot; click "Update driver"; re-run the Logitech webcam software installer; etc. Finally, I was successful in restoring the operation of the webcam by using the
    following steps:

    1. Disconnect webcam
    2. Disable Windows "automatic driver search & install" --
      • open Devices and Printers
      • right-click on the name of your computer
      • select "Device installation settings"
      • select "No, let me choose what to do"
      • select "Never install driver software from Windows update"
      • click "Save Changes"
    3. Uninstall the Logitech webcam software from Control Panel > Programs & Features
    4. Clear out two temp folders (%LocalAppData%/temp and %WinDir%/temp)
    5. Download a new copy of the Logitech webcam software (which includes drivers)
    6. Reboot the computer
    7. Install the software, connecting the webcam when prompted by the software installer
    8. Reset the "automatic driver search & install" setting to its original setting (probably the "recommended" automatic setting)

Based on that experience, instead of going to those online test sites, you might consider doing either A or B below instead:

    A. Follow a slightly modified version of the 8 steps above.

    • Obviously, for a built-in webcam you can't do step 1 and you don't have to reconnect the webcam in step 7
    • Other than that, download the Toshiba webcam software package here:
      https://support.dynabook.com/support/modelHome?freeText=2861099&osId=3333615
    • There are 2 webcam application programs on that page; I suggest version 2.0.0.10, which is quite a bit larger than version 1.1.1.16 -- unfortunately, Toshiba doesn't explain the difference

    B. Only if Device Manager does not indicate any error with your webcam, download one of the various free webcam applications. Although the following site says it's for Windows 10, most (all?) of the applications either work for Windows 7 or still have
Windows 7 versions available. Read the descriptions carefully.
