Windows 10: Weird Blue Screen instead of Background windows 10

I have a fix for this that works 90% of the time.


C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\Sunny Sho 2\DesktopBackground

C:\Users\John\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\CachedFiles


Copy picture from background to cached files.

close and restart

So far i have had the checkerboard screen return twice in the last month or so whereas it used to show up almost daily. The picture file you copy over will eventually disappear but the concern stays away. I did recopy it once so far.

Weird Blue Screen instead of Background

Well, I thought it worked at first, because when I rebooted, my background screen came on like it normally should. However, after a few moments, it did it again. Very strange. After I went back to the Personalize window, it changed again without me doing
anything. This is very weird.

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

If you are using the same Microsoft account in any other computer, due to sync settings this issue might occur. So I suggest you to change turn off the sync settings as below.

• Press “Widows+I” it will open “Settings”.
• Click on “Accounts”.
• Under “Sync your settings”, Turn off the option “Sync settings”.
• Then I suggest you to change the “Desktop Background Picture” and
  restart the computer, check whether the same issue persist or not.

Weird Blue Screen instead of Background

If the image wasn't able to be loaded, then it wouldn't load it when I opened the Personalize window. It did, so that isn't the problem. In fact, this time- after un-syncing -I found that my background loaded up, then after about a minute, that blue screen
came back up in its place. I went to the Personalize window and it loaded the original background back the way it was.
