    So the issue:

Somethings buggered itself in my laptop so as in title I can't click on a few things. I've tried restarting windows explorer bit it hasn't helped this time. I can tell for certain my mouse (or rather, touch pad) is still working since when I click on task manager while it's selected it de-selects itself like I'm clicking on some other window above it. All keyboard options are working. Weirdly, discord still functions fine.

So far this has affected (and likely more than this): my desktop, taskbar, taskmgr, PowerShell, cmd.

Frequency: This issue comes up infrequently and Is usually solved by a reboot but I'd rather find a more permanent solution than that.

I can provide hardware specifications if required but I don't think they're likely to be relevant, to me this seems software.

Other notes: I cleaned out a whole bunch of old files, but didn't touch anything that might be important yesterday I also installed matlab yesterday but I suspect that is unrelated given it's happened before I installed that.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I can still scroll fine on the windows even if left and right click don't affect them
