Windows 10: Weird file naming / deletion problem, could use some help

So I've got about 18k music files and lately I've spent a TON of time updating the tags (album art, name, track #, etc). Somehow for several of them the file names had extra spaces added, I'm guessing when I'd batch edit something I screwed up the syntax somehow, so artist - song.mp3 has a duplicate of artist - song[].mp3 or artist - [] song.mp3 where []=an extra space. The thing is when I delete one of the files from inside the Mp3tag program the other one goes missing. I get an error message saying the default music player (in this case Groove) can't find the file.

Any ideas on what is going on and what to do about it? Can windows not distinguish the extra space in the file names??

List file names than a folder.

Is there a bat file to generate the list of file names that I have inside a folder?
If possible you can help me to do it or give me suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I suggest you to follow the below methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to boot your computer in safe mode and try to delete the files, check whether the issue persist or not.

Step 1: To start your system in safe mode follow the below steps:

• Press and hold Shift key and restart your Computer.
• Select Troubleshoot.
• Select Advance Option.
• Select Startup Settings.
• Follow the on Screen instruction.

Method 2: System File Checker (SFC) Scan

1. On the Search bar type “cmd” and click
ctrl + shift + Enter to open the Elevated Command Prompt.

2. Type “sfc /scannow” and hit
Enter.

3.
Exit Command Prompt.

Unable to delete a folder - Invalid folder name


Suggestion:

1. Run chkdsk x: /r to make sure that there's no HD corruption.
   x: is the drive containing the folder you want to delete.
2. Try to delete the folder again. If still does not work, go to step 3.
3. Download: Download - Linux Mint and create a bootable USB using: Rufus - Create bootable USB
4. Boot up with Linux Mint and try to delete the folder again.
   NOTE: Unlike WinPE. Linux does not have any Windows permission imposed to it so it is easier to delete.
