  1. Weird interactions with laptop after BSOD

    Device: Laptop (ASUS X407UB i7-8550U, 8GB RAM, Windows 10)

So uhh I have no idea what's going on but I assume it started yesterday after I got a BSOD using a Scarlett Solo audio interface (which after some googling seems to be a common occurrence). Laptop restarted after the BSOD and everything seemed to work until I started to notice some weird things with the touchpad and the indicators that pop up when you plug/unplug the device. The whole situation is kind of hard to explain with my consumer-level knowledge but this is what keeps happening and the most common scenario step by step:

    1. My laptop is plugged in, the touchpad is enabled.
    2. I unplug it. An indicator pops up telling my the touchpad is disabled. (!)
    3. I try to enable it with a keyboard shortcut. (on my ASUS laptop the function key (fn) + f9 enables/disables touchpad)
    4. I use this shortcut but it doesn't do what it's supposed to do. Instead, when using it a first time an indicator pops up telling me my laptop is now using battery power.
    5. I use the shortcut a second time and this time it does enable the touchpad.
    6. If I plug the laptop once more it also disables the touchpad.

    7. Using the shortcut, it works the same way as mentioned in point 4, except the first time I use it the indicator pops up telling me the laptop is now plugged. Upon using it a second time the touchpad is enabled and works fine.

Another scenario is where I don't enable the touchpad:

    1. My laptop is plugged in, the touchpad is enabled.
    2. I unplug the laptop (thus disabling the touchpad)
    3. This time around I don't try to enable the touchpad. Instead I just plug the laptop back in.
    4. Doing this an indicator pops up telling me the laptop is now using battery power (except it's plugged in).

    5. In this scenario if I unplug the laptop once more the pop up tells me it's plugged in (except it's unplugged)

    Things I've tried:

    - Windows troubleshooter tells me everything is working fine

    - Changing settings on different power plans

Things that maybe I should try (?):

    - Re-installing touchpad drivers?

    - Reset my laptop to factory settings?

    Other things to consider:

    - The battery and touchpad themselves seem to be working "fine" despite all of this.
    - To be fair none of this is super troublesome and it really doesn't interfere with what I do but it's kind of annoying considering I have no idea why this is happening or if it could be something serious.

    :)

  2. Weird Interactions

I haven't noticed the explorer.exe shutdown issue on any build.
Perhaps it is due to some weird interaction between W10 and some software you have installed (like the faulty context menu entry issue on other versions of Windows).

Apart from the Notification icon glitch on my W10TP b10041 VM, everything else seems to be working OK.
Although I still think that the desktop Window Snapping was better in b9841, I've figured out how to make it work for me.

My only other issues are basically cosmetic ones:
    • Twin Control Panels
    • The awful (full screen) Start Menu transparency
    • The horrible "All Apps" setup
    • The lack of Personalization adjustments to tame the diamond white theme
I'm seriously considering running LM17.1 more often, so that I can use the W10 VM more often too.
I've only installed a few programs, but they seem to be running properly.
It might be time to "up the ante". *Nerd

    Weird BSOD problem

    Hi Everyone,

I have a weird BSOD problem which I cannot solve for a while(it persists still after upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7)

The main strange thing about this is that I get BSOD only after cold boot.
    So it acts like this:

    1. start PC.
    2. Get to Windows Logo Screen
    3. BSOD
    4. Restart
    5. Get to menu where I can try to repair or Start NormallyIf I Choose Repair, it will fail to repair and will try to restoreIf I Choose Start Normally, it will start OK, no BSOD, can work normally, games, browse internet, everything is normal.6. Shutdown PC
    7. Next time when I start is all over again i.e. Go to Step 1

I have this problem for a while, so what I tried:
    1. Another Windows 7
    2. Another HDD
    3. Only HDD connected
    4. Changed RAM
    5. Tried with built in GPU
    6. Upgraded to Windows 10

Result is the same as above every time.

Please suggest what could be the cause.
    Logs collected with DM_Log_Collector, attached.

    Thank you

PS. This thread is a continuation of this one: Frequent multiple errors BSOD. Solved - Windows 7 Help Forums the only thing changed is Windows 10 now. instead of Windows 7. If that helps somehow.
