Windows 10: Weird issue post Version 2004 update (19041.450 installed)

An issue and a small MS rant.



The issue is the games. I want to play games installed through the store. I cannot play any of them. I tried Stellaris last and it did load the menu once. But the other times it did nothing. And the one time it loaded the menu and I told it to play I get a blue screen with an oops and the PC restarts.



Not just on my PCs but on my wife's laptop as well. Grounded i know had an issue with RX gpus which I have in one of mine. Not sure the issue on her 1060 or my 2080 though. But what is with the rest of them for us. Both Version 2004. Just cannot figure out why anything installed through the store is not working.



I tried Recore as I was posting this. Thought I would go one more try and nope. Game just loads the splash and then crashed.



Now, I could play Watch Dogs 2 through uPlay. And I also loaded and played Shadowrun Returns on Steam with no issues. So it is strictly things installed through the Windows Store.



Also, I have an app for the Alienware headset installed. The store keeps giving an error on the update that says that the update must be installed on the C drive. Which is were the app is already and nothing works to make it install.



I will also rant a little here. One my X, yes I am on the insider stuff, it refuses to install the store update. 400gb free and it just stops. Also will not install the insider beta update that is trying. Just fails. And nothing I have done fixes that. On top of this I signed my wife in so she could try a game. And nothing would load. Just kept saying something went wrong. But when I was signed in the games would work. Connected online and no issues showing.



I will list this as a bug since it is effecting different PCs with different hardware. Games will work from other places but nothing installed from the Windows Store will work. They either do not load or crash out.



Edit: Something else I want to mention. Cannot figure out what is going on with MS. I was loving their launcher on Android. So update comes and the folders no longer have the dots to open up and order the icons inside alphabetically. No big deal except that there is another issue. My wife had to delete for this and I am probably going to have to as well. The icons will randomly just mush into a small box area on the screen. Long holding the screen to bring up the pages indicates the active area is just this small box. So all my folders overlap. It happens on my LG G8x, My wifes Note 10+, my sons Moto G7 Power, and on another sons S9+. Not sure how this made it through testing but we are not the only ones have this problem on the launcher. MS needs to step it up a little. We are not using the beta version.

To solve this issue, follow these steps:

1. Rollback to the last Stable version of Windows. Basically, restore your system to the last stable point.

2. Download the Windows Update Assistant tool.

3. Install the updates as recommended by that tool.

Note: Windows 10 version 2004 has brought a lot of bugs with it. The best way to move forward is to wait until a patched Windows 10 version 2004 is released.
