Windows 10: Weird issues after M.2 SATA installation.

I put a Crucial M.2 Hard drive in my system as a 3rd storage device. When I booted up I formatted the drive and gave it a drive letter in the Windows partition program and it works. But now I cannot do many things such as update Nvidia GPU drivers, I had to use DDU to uninstall them, but installing new says it failed. I also cannot use USB storage devices. My mouse/kb functions fine, but the flash drives I have aren;t recognized or even light up in Windows 10. But they do light up and are recognized in bios. I tried reinstalling windows 7 with my old disc , but it will not recognize the USB keyboard I have. and there is no PS/2 port on my motherboard.

I could likely reinstall windows using a Windows 10 USB bootable. But it could be days before I can get that accomplished since I need to borrow a PC/laptop to get the W10 installation onto USB Flash drive. Any suggestions?

M.2 and SATA Express questions

Hi,

I just got a Gigabyte Z97-HD3P MB and I am confused by this statement - "SATA Express connector & M.2 slot can only be enabled one at a time".

2 questions -

• Can I use both a M.2 and SATA Express drive at the same time?
• Can I use 2 Samsung 850 EVO 250GB (1 M.2 and 1 SATA Express) in RAID 0?

M.2 or sata ssd

Hi all i need to ask i have a z170ar motherboard . ok here it is i have 6 sata port 5 are used
sata 1 is the c drive sata 2 empty 3 4 5 6 are other drives
they say the m.2 uses sata so if i install the m.2 i well lose sata 1 and 2 ports because its shared.
so my question is how can i clone to a m.2 if i lose sata 1 and 2 when i plug in the m.2 ?
sorry if this looks like a mess i just dont know how to word this to well.

 

2 RAID Arrays on Z390 chipset (M.2x4 and SATA)

I need to know if this is possible. To have two RAID arrays on a z390 platform. The first being a boot drive composed of two M.2x4 pcie SSDs in RAID 1 and the other being composed of two SATA III SSDs in RAID 0.

The ASRock Z390 Taichi Ultimate appears like it might support this since two of the M.2 ports are pcie style, and if both are used it still leaves two open SATA III ports on the Intel controller.

1. If the M.2 pcie disks are configured in RAID, can I use these two extra SATA III ports for another RAID array?
   
2. If question one is possible, can I use the M.2 array as my boot drive?
