    Hi all,

Probably this Toshiba laptop is gone for good. Because I guess if I can't fix it, no one can. But let's give it a try.

It had original Windows 10, and I also had a system image created with Macrium Reflect, with a Macrium boot environment. Just for case. And this case has come yesterday.

The PC did not boot. It said immediately: Critical Service Failed.

Immediately rebooted and offered the diagnostics, the repair options etc. Nothing worked.

    Checkdisk found no errors.

System restore fails - it cannot exctract something from somewhere, does not matter.

Repair install of the image fails seems like completing but in the end it claims an error.

Then I tried to boot with the Macrium flash drive. It entered in a black screen and displayed that device is not loaded or inaccessible.

Then I burnt a W10 ISO image with Rufus to an NTFS pen. I tried to boot it via cmd, setup.exe. It started the deployment but in the beginning it quit with the following error: We're having trouble determining if your PC can run Windows 10.

Then I tried with restart, F12, boot from the Kingston pen. But it immediately returned Critical Service Failed error.

Then I tried the DISM commands to restore the image using the ISO drive but anytime I tried I got errors like Error 1 and Error 87.

sfc /scannow also fails to run. bootrec.exe /fixboot - access denied. It is a Legacy BIOS hardware so there us no magic trick to change the EFI partition with diskpart because there is no EFI partition.

Probably this PC is a dud.

    :)

Error Code 0xc000000e “element not found” bootrec /fixboot

    Error Code 0xc000000e

    attempting Win10 Recovery from USB

Trying to fix corrupted “C” drive yet the recovery command prompt stars at “x:\Sources>”

    “element not found” bootrec /fixboot

How to select the correct disk and make the Windows active and run the commands again?

If the commands are run from “x:\Sources>” or "x:\Windows\System32" it gives the same error.

here is what's been tried: [FIX] Windows 10 Master Boot Record Is Corrupted

    • BOOTREC /FIXMBR (ok)

    • BOOTREC /FIXBOOT (“element not found”)

    • BOOTREC /REBUILDBCD (have not made it to this step)

    Access denied on bootrec /fixboot

These are the commands and how to run them. No reason you should get Access denied.

Bootrec /fixboot Access is denied error

I encountered winlog.exe missing/corrupted issue during laptop startup. Have googled up solutions in repairing with USB bootable drive but did not help.

There's other recommendations to enter command prompt and enter the few bootrec commands. However upon entering Bootrec /fixboot....it stated access is denied.

Additionally there were additionals steps to follow but i still couldn't get this Bootrec /fixboot command accessible.

Anyone know why and what are other steps?
