Windows 10: Western Digital Won't Install Driver Unless I Share My Data

Pretty frustrating to buy two new Western Digital external hard drives only to find out after 2 hours of troubleshooting that the only method that works is by clicking the "share my data" option. I tested it multiple times and the result is always the same. That's got to be illegal, and even if not, it's the single scummiest thing I've seen a company do in a while. I've seen 3 other people mention this in the WD forums and they didn't even have the balls to reply and say "yes we forced you to hand over your data because we can".

Has anyone else had this experience on Windows 10? Has anyone been able to select "Don't share my data" and successfully install the driver? I have a video of proof if anyone wants to see this sorcery of data tricksters. Returning my devices tomorrow and going with Seagate..too bad, I really didn't want to take that risk. They have a higher fail rate, but I'd rather take my chances with a company that will at least point and laugh after robbing me, WD won't even speak to it's customers about installing software. They made that part clear in their terms.

Western Digital External HD won't mount

On windows you could always try uninstalling the device in windows device manager and then unplug it, and plug it back in to see if re-installing the device driver will fix it.

The nice thing is that its a western digital HDD and western digital so happens to have software on their website to help you diagnose problems with their drives yourself. Download the Data Lifeguard software from their website, its the software for diagnosing problems. They also have other useful software for their drives as well.

Western Digital SSD Dashboard Install issues

Heard back from Western Digital, but there steps still failed, waiting on call back now from Level 2 support, but have a feeling isn't gonna help any. From there forum area looks like not only user having issues with the dashboard program.
