    What app does Microsoft recommend for viewing animated webp?


    I know photos opens a webp as a still image, so I was wondering if there is a different image viewer that I can use for viewing animated webp images.I know web browsers opens webp but that is one image at a time very annoying when wanting to scroll / view next image.I have found a 123Photo app but like most things today you need to pay.Please HelpRegards,Johan

    Agreed.

    Photos doesn't have full webp support. For example this webp image is animated, but it's static in Photos. Maybe that's why it doesn't yet recognize the webp extension.

    Any browser will display that image with animation, as will some third-party viewers, such as ImageEye.

    The issue with Photos is just something to report via Feedback Hub (press ⊞-F in Windows) and hope someday Microsoft adds full webp support.

    Hello ! I'm Aymeric, and I'm here to help !

    You can use Microsoft Photos to see .webp files. Just set Photos as the default app for .webp files in the File Properties.

    Right-click on the file, choose "Properties" and you'll have the option to change the default app by clicking on the "Change" button.
