Windows 10: what are Tags? and what are they used for? and how to insert them ?

i was tryna use separators between files instead of creating new folders for each say 3 files. However, a previous answer on this blog stated that i can not, the only way i can sort this matter is by using the Group by feature, that has limited options, among them is Tags. What is that and what is used for ?Note: that blue 'separator' that appears after Grouping is what i needed, if only i can group files manually insted of those limited options.

Clear the 'cache' in file explorer for already used picture tags?


If you set some tags for your *.jpg pictures, the windows 10 file explorer shows them in the "details pane" on the right side.





This list can get very long and with some wrong or no longer used entries.
How can I clear this list / cache / suggestions?

Or how can I stop the file explorer to suggests already used Tags?

 

Location of tags used

I know how to tag files. Where can I find the list of tags I've used? I know I can create tags "on the fly" which is the problem. Now I have some mistakes and after clean up, need to remove the 'mistakes' from the list. They aren't assigned to any files,
and as long as they are being auto-suggested I risk using them.

• Open Windows Explorer.
• View your folder in Details view to see tags.
• Click Tags to sort by any of the tags.
