What are the pictures MS puts on my screen everytime I startup?

I guess they think I want to see these things. I apologize for not knowing what to call them other than "pictures". Every time I open the lid for the computer when it has been "sleeping" or I start up my laptop. These is some picture with a note in the upper right asking me if I like it or not. I always click that I do not like it and I wish I knew how t make it stop. I don't want to see their pictures and it is offensive to me for them to presume that I do.
However, I do not know how to make it stop. I have PW or fingerprint protection that I use to logon. The picture is usually on that screen waiting for me to slide my finger, then it opens to my desktop or whatever window I had open.

So.. what do I call these pictures, what screen is this? Can I get rid of the pictures or do I just have to keep telling them that I don't like the picture (there is a certain satisfaction in telling them I don't like their picture).

    Thanks,

    Julien

    :)

  2. MS Spotlight not working after resume from sleep closing the lid- HP Pavilion

Interesting bug. Computer is working fine with exception for MS Spotlight after the laptop resume from sleep if sleep was triggered by closing the lid.

    Lock Screen Settings:

    MS Spotlight configured

Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen turned ON

Closed Lid configure to put the computer to sleep

    Hibernation has been disabled

If I put the computer to sleep by closing the lid and then I open it then the Lock Screen is the Power up/Restart Lock Screen picture

If I put the computer to sleep by selecting sleep through the power option after pressing the windows key then it works fine.

It gets better, if I turn off the Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen (TURNED OFF) then the MS Spotlight picture comes on resume and it does not matter how the computer was put to sleep.

Has this bug been identified? Is MS aware of this problem? I am running the latest W10 version with all updates.

  3. MS Spotlight not working after resume from sleep closing the lid- HP Pavilion

Windows Update Troubleshooter, SFC , DISM, etc have done nothing! have reported nothing! Everything is normal.

Here is the new outcome of my tests since I have had more time.

If I lock the computer via CTRL+ALT+DEL and select Lock then the MS Spotlight picture comes on. If a close the lid after locking the computer then MS Spotlight works fine. I can close the lid and when laptop resumes after sleep by opening the lid then MS
Spotlight picture is there in other words it works like expected

If I just close the lid without locking first then MS Spotlight does NOT work when resume after sleep by opening the lid.

If a put the computer to sleep by pressing the power button or by using the windows key plus power option and then the sleep option MS Spotlight does NOT work.

From what I can see, for some reason Windows 10 OS system is not calling the MS Spotlight procedure, variables, etc if the laptop is put to sleep from a NON-Lock-Screen state. This also explains why MS Spotlight does not work on a reboot. In a reboot the
MS Spotlight picture should be the last MS Spotlight feature from the last user logged in.

    From my initial post:

"It gets better, if I turn off the Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen (TURNED OFF) then the MS Spotlight picture comes on resume and it does not matter how the computer was put to sleep."

    From another forum

"Previously on PC, there were two separate backgrounds for the Lock screen and then the Sign-in screen. Starting in Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14279, Microsoft is merging the experience so there is just a single background – your Lock screen background.
This is similar to the behavior seen on mobile. If you have a custom Lock screen background set, you will see your Lock screen background is now used for both the Lock screen and Sign-in screen by default.

I hope this provides clarity and additional light to MS to fix this problem.

What are the pictures MS puts on my screen everytime I startup?

It is called "Windows spotlight" on the lock screen. You can set your own picture (so I guess you could pick a solid color). Can't seem to turn it off completely though...

It was bugging me also this "Do you like me? Please say yes" business. I don't want to be friends with an inanimate object.

Turn off the option I circled; see if that helps:
