Windows 10: What are those white on green check marks which appeared on my icons ?

What are those white on green check marks which appeared on my icons ? They were not there before. And also grey crosses it seems. Windows 10 Home V1909 (18363.1556)

In Windows 10 explorer a green check mark blocks the icon, not allowing me to see if the document is word, pdf or excel. I know the check indicates it is synced, but how can I avoid the check mark appearing?

How do I remove the green circles with a white check mark next to files in My Documents?

 

What are these red cross marks and green tick marks on most of my icons? Be it desktop or different folders, it's there everywhere.

These are the sync status of these folders to Onedrive.

A red circle with a white cross means that a file or folder cannot be synced.

Files that you mark as "Always keep on this device" have the green circle with the white check mark.
