Windows 10: What can I do if the system is asking me for my current password while signing in after my...

Hi, I'm trying to sign in my computer and it's asking me to type the Windows' current password. I typed it and it says it's the wrong one. What can I do? I opted to use the authenticator app not to use a password anymore but I changed that option. Also, my computer was formatted so I guess it doesn't know what was the last password use on the device

About your concern with typing the password after being idle, it is actually recommended to activate for security reasons.

If you wish to disable it, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Settings.
• Click on Accounts.
• Click on Sign in options.
• On the right side, you will see required sign in.
• Change it to Never.

1. Did you recently upgraded to Windows 10?

2. If so, which was the previous operating system installed?

3. Did you use a Microsoft Account in the previous operating system?

4. How exactly did you install Windows 10?

If you upgraded to Windows 10 from a previous operating system, I would suggest you to try using the old account details and password and check if you are able to sign in. However, if that does not accept the password, I would suggest resetting the password
