Windows 10: What caused my computer to kick back to default settings

Not sure this is the right forum for this. This afternoon I had to go run an errand. I left my computer running. When I came home my computer was completely changed. It's like it was reset back to default settings. My pictures folder is empty. My video folder is empty. My music folder is empty. Programs and apps that I had pinned to the task bar are gone. Some of my programs appear to be missing but I haven't had a chance to search for them yet. The photo I had displayed on my screen is gone and replaced with a pale blue solid screen. I don't know what else might be missing. Anybo

Windows 10 - Cannot Set Printer Default

Hi Marc,

I suggest you to place the computer in Clean boot state and then try to make the default printer.

Perform clean boot to identify if any 3rd party service is causing this issue:

Note: After performing the troubleshooting steps in clean boot, follow
Step 3 from the link to start the computer to
Normal startup mode.

Note: Also applies to Windows 10.

To make printer as a default printer you can follow the below steps:

• 
  Press Windows key+ X and select
  device manager.
  
• 
  Select devices and printers
  
• 
  Right click on the printer you want to use, and then click
  set as default printer (You'll see a check mark on the printer's icon signifying that it's now your default printer).

Unable to set default browser

• Does this issue happens while you try to set other browser as default too or is it specific to specific browser?

Any browser.

Already did the steps you suggested. It's some kind of bug where it's impossible to set a default browser at all.

I heard elsewhere from one other user that it seems to be a problem with upgrading to 10 on the SP3. Sounds very specifc.

 

Recent (Save Files) - Change Default Settings to OneDrive

Thanks for the return. Before I undertake changing the Registry, I have a question.
The steps in my Registry, for my version of Windows 10, were a bit different, but I think I eventually got to the right spot.
The last step is to change the number of places you want to list in Recent Places. In my case, the default Max Display listed 50 as the number. So, if I were to change that number, how do I know the Save As page will be one of those places? Or, a similar question, will this registry change delete the tab Recent from my Save As page? This is what I would like to happen.
When I received my computer in Nov. 2016, the Recent tab was not listed in the Save As page. Something caused it to be added over time. Which brings me to this second question. Would there be any benefit in deleting the changed registry listing and reverting back to the default listing? See attachment.
