Windows 10: What does it mean when a laptop popup appears saying “Ran out of video memory! Exiting...”...

So yesterday I was playing a game on my laptop and after a couple of hours (6 hours or so) a popup appeared saying “Ran out of video memory! Exiting...”, it froze my whole laptop.. and today I played the same game and the same popup appeared after I played for 40 minutes, is there something wrong with the game or what?

BSOD Blue Screen restart nearly daily, often during video

Yes, when I clicked Video, the 3 options were:
Video Memory Fast Check
Video Extended Memory Check
Video Palette Check

I ran the video extended memory check for 2 iterations.

I removed just removed all thunderbolt drivers and software and reinstalled in accordance with the steps listed here and did not get the thunderbolt popup on reboot.

Video AVC format not appearing on memory card


I've a Sony Cybershot video camera which downloads as an AVC format however whilst it plays back on the camera ok it doesn't appear on the memory card for download, only appearing on Sony's "Play Memories Home" player which is clumsy and cumbersome.

Appreciate any solutions as to how to transfer the videos directly onto laptop instead.

Out of memory / resources does not mean what it says, apparently




I am trying to use a new program but this is what I get when trying to launch it. Online there are so many suggestions regarding the cause and what to do about I don't know where to start.
