Windows 10: What does it mean when Windows 11 File Explorer closes without ceremony while viewing SSD...

I have an external SSD drive that is USB 3.2 Gen 2 compatible. If I open Windows File Explorer and navigate to "This PC", then open the SSD drive in order to view the drive contents File Explorer closes within seconds and does so without any ceremony no errors, warnings etc.. The Device Manager reports the device is "working correctly".I tried again with a different drive by a different manufacturer and with a different cable and experienced the same thing. I don't do anything but wait a few seconds and explorer closes.I moved the drive to another USB port, this one USB-B I think it has a

Thank you for the detailed response. To change the search result's view from content to list, we suggest following the steps below:

• Open the File Explorer and try to search for files.
• In the toolbar, open the View tab and click List
  to change the view.
• Once changed, close the File Explorer.
• Open the File Explorer again and try to search to see if the setting has been retained.

• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
