    What does OneDrive Standalone Update Task do?


    OneDrive Standalone Update Task is found under scheduled task, I would like to know on what it does and why I need this scheduled task.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Windows 10 - OneDrive

    Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

    If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

    Yes, OneDrive should update on it's own (indedpent of Windows) when started/signed into it.
    No, You shouldn't have to update it manually.

    Note: I just signed into my OneDrive and it updated to 18.044.0301.0006 ...and the Files On Demand > Free Up Space is working again for me What does OneDrive Standalone Update Task do? :)

    Note: There is/should be a task in Task Schedule > OneDrive Standalone Update Task-YOUR-SID ... that runs the OneDriveStandAloneUpdater.exe at a certain date/time and then every hour indefinitely.
