Windows 10: What does the Hardware warranty actually cover?

I have a Sculpt desktop set and the leatherette on the wrist rest has come away - it's only about a year old and has a three year warranty. So I reported it using the online form and this is basically what I get back"We have reviewed the case again and found out that your PC Accessory is not eligible for warranty replacement.Reason: Physical or cosmetic damage caused by any external cause or damage reasonably expected as a result of normal wear and tear is not covered by the warranty. N97: Broken keylock slider, NOT covered by warranty

Might be covered in the UK, not the US. My local repair centre told me that hardware breaks are not covered by warranty.

Not covered. Warranties only cover mechanical defects (aka, products that die in the infant mortality phase). Don't be surprised if they see the water damage and deny replacement.
