    What happened here and how do I fix it and recover everything


    Hello,I turned on my laptop and when it started apps icons that are beside the search bar were not showing and then I restarted my laptop it took a while to restart and when I came back to see it it showed thisthe image“Sign in to enjoy the full range of Microsoft apps and services

    I am sorry.. I have no idea what that is.. I am pretty green I'm afraid.

    I wasn't trying to recover any files.. I wanted to format a new drive in an old computer.. The old drive died.

    I did what Namslas90 said but then when I got to the next step .. and hit enter.. nothing happened.. sigh...

    Anyway.. I am waiting on the next step.. Thank you for your input ...

    Programs not working

    In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
    Are you able to follow them?
    In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.
