Windows 10: What happened to the Internet Explorer I had in my notebook, that was on my taskbar that I...

I have windows 10 Pro 64 bit. It is NOT windows s. I hope I chose the correct category.


This is new to me and I am learning it. However, I had Internet Explorer in this notebook, and I had opened it, used it and put the icon in my task bar. This was just a day ago, and it VANISHED yesterday a few days after I engaged it.


What could have possibly happened? I am at such a loss. I don't use it as my go-to browser, I use Chrome. But, still, I would like to have it. I also have tried to download IE 11, over and over -- it downloads, I open it, and then I get a message saying I must re-start my notebook which I have done now three times. But, there is NO internet explorer. I liked it in my task bar to use, specifically for downloads from my security cameras I could set the location there. And not have to hassle each time.


WHY is Windows 10 seemingly so difficult? How can something like a browser icon vanish from the task bar?

And the instructions I see on this site that IE is "integrated" with windows 10 and just open the start button and type in .... etc Well, mine doesn't work like that. I have the search, but it is gthe internet.


that's another thing -- how to you get rid of the internet search so one's search is only that in one's computer? I have browsers to searh the internet. This will make finding anything personal in my computer a nightmare.


thanks for the help. This windows has not been a veery good experience for me, not on anything I have set up. It is sucking up so much time struggling with so much and I don't care for the windows 10 experience. So Sad. Why did they stop supporting windows 7? it was so good.

Pin Internet Explorer on taskbar

If you are trying to use the Internet Explorer from taskbar, I would like to inform you that by default it shows for Microsoft Edge, if you want to pin the Internet Explorer to taskbar, then I would suggest you to go through the below steps:

a. Press Windows key+R.

b. Type iexplore and press enter.

c. Right click on the Internet Explorer on taskbar and click on pin to taskbar.
