Windows 10: what happened to the news and interests toolbar widget?

not too long ago, it got an update that FINALLY allowed it to work on secondary monitors, and on vertical toolbars.....now.....that has been removed....what the hell gives? i LITERALLY only liked it because i could see the temp and the time, just by glancing at my taskbar on my secondary monitor.....now i cant....its LITERALLY useless now.....AGAIN....this BETTER be a bug....

Disable Windows 11 Widgets News Widgets or Manage Interests (Not Working)

I am seeking a way to turn off the obnoxious news stories feed in the widgets of Windows 11. I despise them. (I would like there to just be weather and nothing else.) I do not see a way to turn it off, so I clicked settings, clicked "manage interests", and this page (Microsoft Start (msn.com)) loads to the Discover interests tab, with lots of sections of interests. For example, News section with interests US, World, Politics, etc., Entertainment section with Celebrities, Movies, Music, etc. I blocked all the possible interests to block stories on all these topics. But my settings were not saved and they all keep showing up. I tried blocking them again, it still didn't work. I tried blocking a lot of them, while leaving the least annoying, for example I actually clicked "follow this topic" for the WNBA and a few other not-as-obnoxious news topics. But my settings are never saved, even though I'm obviously logged in, and after I click "block" a little hover alert does pop up that says "Stories on [topic] have been blocked]". But they are never saved and the next time I go to widgets and go to manage interests again, they are all unblocked and I see all these stories I don't care about.

Does anyone have any ideas?

My next step will be to try blocking them one by one in the widget, ie on the story in the widget, click the three dots, then click "Hide all stories from [news organization", but based on what's happened so far, I assume that won't get saved either because it seems Microsoft is hell bent on shoving all this ridiculous click bait content down my throat.
