Windows 10: What Happens if I pull the power cord while Desktop is running?

So I have a Dell Optiplex 990 Desktop Chasis. Since I have a lot of outages in my house, I'm wondering what happens if I accidentally pull the power cord while the computer is running. If I pull the power cord on the computer, will there be any system errors or hardware issues? I'm guessing there won't be any issues with the hardware itself, since they haven't physically taken any damage. So I'm wondering what kind of software issues might occur, and is there any protection that dell has put in just for events like this? I also assume, since it's a system error, I could just insert a bootable USB and completely erase and reinstall windows if it comes to that?

After upgrade to Windows 10, sometimes on startup usb mouse stops working - only fix is to pull power cord and plug back in on desktop. So, when the computer starts, the usb mouse doesn't light up and doesn't work. I think use keyboard to shutdown and then
it the computer tries to auto-start.

The only way I've seen to correct his is to pull the power plug on the desktop before it tries to reboot and then everything works again.

Anyone seen this or have a fix?

 

Stuck in Reboot loop after power cut

We understand your concern and appreciate the time and effort that you have invested in to fix the issue.

Before we proceed, I would like you to state which troubleshooting steps have you performed bedsides the mentioned to fix the issue.

As per the description, I suspect that you might be stuck in a reboot loop. I suggest that you perform Power Drain and check if it helps

• Unplug the charger and remove the battery of your laptop, if using a desktop remove the power cord.
• Press and hold the Power button for 30sec
• Plug the charger/power cord and restart system

6555 Power cord plug problems

When I plug in the power cord it does not make a solid connection. The only way I can get it to work is by canting the cord, by wrapping the cord around the phone or by taping the phone down and pulling the cord to the side.

Is this a systematic problem? Am I the only one? If not has anyone found a solution?
