HI I was wondering if I could ask some questions about yubikeys for microsoft accounts. I was wondering what yubikeys work with microsoft accounts. Microsoft Security and Google reject Yubico security key?

I bought a Yubico Security Key for MFA on my Nord Account (password manager). I have installed the key in Nord but when I try to use it a dialog box opens. I have a screenshot but it will not upload. The dialog says:

Windows Security

Masking sure it's you.

Please sign in to nordaccount.com

This request comes from Chrome, published by Google LLC.

This security key doesn't look familiar.

Please try a different one.

[Cancel]

I spent several hours with Nord support who could not help. I inquired with Yubico, who told me the problem was not the key but "the service" and I should reinstall the key and try again. I did, and still have the problem.

I registered the key with my Microsoft account but that did not help either.

Why is Windows Security interfering and what does it have to do with Chrome?

Are the admin user a local user, or one that's linked to Microsoft account? Or are the computers set up in a domain joined environment?

If it is linked to Microsoft account, I don't think it will work. Local admin and domain joined network admin could work. But you want to check with Yubico support to be sure and to find out which key works for UAC control.
