Windows 10: What if I checked MSINFO and the BIOS was set to Legacy?

    What if I checked MSINFO and the BIOS was set to Legacy?


    I want the BIOS to be set to UEFI, not Legacy. And when I go to settings, recovery, restart, it doesn't show the UEFI options. So I can't enable it. Can someone help me?

    Hi,

    I read that from your previous link...

    That's why I was thinking that a wiped HDD might give a different outcome with the BIOS...

    Same reason to try doing a Clean Install with a Flash Drive specifically for Legacy Bios... To see if the Legacy\ Secure Boot issue can be forced to change...

    Be sure to have all other HDDs and iOmega stuff unhooked...

    I am trying to force something to work on my machine by using a UEFI Flash, as opposed to the Legacy Flash I suggested you try...

    I'm trying to boot off of a PCIe based SSD, and my Bios is not recognizing it in Legacy... Not even showing in Bios at all, even though it works fine for Data storage...

    Hi,

    I'm not so sure I buy the explanation by the HP Tech... For one, the article is not for Win 10... Just 7,8,8.1...

    I am running Win 10 in Legacy Bios on several (3) machines, but I suppose there is something about HPs Bios in which that is a problem...

    Did you not have this problem after restoring the machine to Factory Win 8 ?

    The Win 7 USB\DVD Tool is very basic... You install it and run it...

    It will open with a screen to choose the ISO you want to use...

    It will then ask for a USB Flash Drive... I think it says 4GB or larger...

    Wait awhile, and you have a Flash Drive for installing to Legacy Bios...

    RUFUS will do this as well... It just requires different settings than for UEFI Bios...

    The Flash Drive needs to be MBR instead of GPT, and also needs to be NTFS instead of FAT32... After selecting the ISO be sure to double check the settings as they sometimes change...

    I just suggested the Win 7 Tool because it is completely automatic... You don't need to select anything except which ISO you want to use...

    access BIOS settings in Win 10

    I have an 8-year old computer running Win 10. I need to access the BIOS settings. It used to be the holding down the F2 key during startup would bring up the BIOS screen in Windows computers. But this no longer works. A web article listed a complicated
    series of steps leading to a reboot . . . but still no access to BIOS. Any suggestions?
