  1. What if the file thumbnails are taking up crazy amounts of memory?

When you open a folder with more stored files, it takes a long time to load the thumbnails, and then it takes up a larger amount of memory, and it's best to get stuck, and you can only solve the problem by not displaying the thumbnails, so what can you do if you still want the thumbnails?

    File Explorer not showing thumbnails

    Brink,

Many thanks for you reply. I have done all the steps you suggested, but no change,

When I open a folder containing photos, some open correctly but the vast majority open with thumbnails, but they very quickly get overwritten and you can not longer see the thumbnails.

    Are there any more suggestions?

  3. Windows 10 Picture Files not updating thumbnails

    Hi,

I realize that the picture files are not updating thumbnails. I will try to help you with this issue.

Suggest you to perform “Disk Cleanup”, cleaning up the temporary internet files, thumbnail, cookies and temp files, so as to check the thumbnail view of the photo is updated by cleaning up your temporary data.

Further, if the issue persists then you can also follow these steps:

    • Right click in the Folder that contains the images.

    • Select View.

    • Note the current icon size, and change it to another size (ie: "Medium-Icons" to "Large-Icons", then back to "Medium-Icons").

    • This causes the icons to be resized and their cache updated.

Keep us informed to help you further.
