Windows 10: What is causing the BCD to repeatedly corrupt like this?

Windows won't boot — BCD corrupted, Recovery doesn't work Description: About a month ago, I tried to boot my PC and it froze — the disk activity light wasn't blinking, and Caps Lock didn't respond. After a forced restart, Windows showed: “Diagnosing your PC” → “Attempting Repairs”, then failed with this error: Name: Check for installed LCU Result: Completed successfully Error code: 0x3f1 No further explanation or solution. Hi Andre,

As per the description, I suggest that you follow the steps below to fix BCD

1. Right click on the Start Menu and select Command Prompt (Admin)

2. Here type/paste the commands listed below

Bootrec /fixMBR

Bootrec /fixBoot

Bootrec /RebuildBcd

3. Once done restart the PC and check.

What causes "Missing or Corrupt BCD file"

Recently my laptop blue screened with an error message that the BCD file was missing or corrupt. I recently had done Windows up dates (Windows 10) and an iTunes update. I did not mess with any particular Windows files.

Does anyone know what causes this problem so that I may attempt to avoid it in the future?

I have my laptop up and running, but would rather NOT have to go through the recovery steps again in the future.

bcd corruption

if the bcd is corrupted then can it be fixed using cmd ? does rebuild work every time? or is it like a 50/50 thing? ( i just wanted to know the chances for it to work )
