  1. What is Resume and how can I disable it fully?

Windows 11 user.Hello! Either I've never noticed this within task manager, or it's a recent thing.. I have went through various searches on google and followed various steps such as disabling resume within settings, turning off start up for phone link and mobile devices. It is taking up at least 200 mbs of memory and I want to know how to stop it. It appears each time I boot up my computer, I can end the task and it won't come back, but that's only until I reboot! I have only used Phone Link once in the past but that was a while ago and I never used it again. Also, could it being active mean s

Win7 Pro Laptop crashes when resumes from sleep

Ok almost positive it related to the wifi card/driver. If I disable it in the device manager my laptop sleeps and resumes just fine.

So I guess first step would to be try to find a different driver and if that doesnt work I guess I can replace it. Used mini pci-e wifi cards are pretty cheap.

  3. Best method to disable Vista/Vista 64 driver signing?

    Black Ice:

It's not a matter of "try". The bcdedit command is not fully consistent and reliable for some folks.

So far, to me, it seems the third choice always locks (disables) the driver signing. If that is the case for anyone who uses it, then that would suggest it is the more reliable and consistent method of the ones I've listed, anyway.

    Thanks for your feedback.

What is Resume and how can I disable it fully?

Cant disable lockscreen after resume from sleep anymore?

I've just done a clean install of 1809 and had been searching Settings in vain for a way to remove the requirement to sign-in after resuming from sleep or hibernation.

As is often the way, a search on Ten Forums for someone else wth the same the problem is a good way to find the answer. This thread was the top hit. Unlike Redbatman's experience in post #1 the option wasn't just greyed out....

...mine was missing entirely - no wonder I couldn't find it!

And before anyone steps in to say (as before) that it's there for them, the answer is in the revised wording of the red warning text. The reason it was greyed out for some but not others back in Creators and now missing for some but not all in the October update is simply that you need to have set a password before the option is available.

Perhaps @Redbatman would like to mark this thread solved now after all these years? *Biggrin
