What is Softex Inc's Omnipass and is it critical to the functioning of my oldish Samsung laptop now that Win10 seems to be taking over everything?

(Solved) Windows 10 Omnipass

I found a resolution that worked for me

In my case Softex Omnipass would not let the password screen come up at all. (probably same for most here)

I booted the laptop to Safe mode. logged in

opened task manager and terminated the Omnipass application (if it was running, mine was trying to launch the admin console)

browsed to the Softex root directory and renamed it 'Softex123' and rebooted

now I was able to log in as normal.

went back in to rename it back to original name, then uninstalled the program in programs and features.

laptop rebooted after uninstall and comes up without issue now.

I'm wondering if the behavior I'm experiencing is specific to having Softex Omnipass installed. I logon to Windows 10 Pro through Softex Omnipass, not whatever the Windows 10 Pro fingerprint login is. However, I would like to continue using Softex Omnipass
on the machine in question.

 

Authetec Omnipass and Windows 10 1709 update

I have bee trying to install Windows 10 update 179 for the last 6 months but i keep gettig an error saying that i need to uninstall Softex OmniPass

I cannot find , less uninstall that program. I only find it in the control panel. How do i remove it from the control pael and from my computor ?

so that i can proceed to installing my Windows 10 updates.
