2. There is a device called "Tesla" on my PC network, and it's NOT mine.

I see that a number of others have variations of this issue, finding "Tesla series 3," and other "Tesla" computers inside thier networks. "Properties" displays "Not available" for manufacturer. I'm thinking it's some kind of onboard compter in a Tesla vehicle. But what the hell is it doing on my network?

Best Buy's Remote Geek Squad said it a computer at one of my neighbors. He compared it to seeing multiple neighboring networks when you turn on wifi. That's not it because it does NOT appear in the list of available networks. It's not a network, it's a "computer," like it says. And, if I shut down wifi, it's still there.

It first appeared right after w Windows update. Naturally.

There is a device called Tesla on my PC network and I do not know what it is

Any ideas on what the Tesla device is on my network? It is not connected to WiFi (I checked the MAC addresses of connected devices) so must be a wired connection. It appears under "Computers" when viewing "Network" from File Explorer. No, I do not own a Tesla car. I did a MAC address lookup and it does appear to be manufactured by Tesla Inc. in Palo Alto.

    Hi, billley404.

    Welcome to Microsoft support community.

We noticed you are having problem with the unexpected appearing Tesla device which appears on your computer. Which is pretty confusing I have to say, I can understand you are scratch your head over this kind of issue.

This kind of issue is pretty strange, I do find some discussion with similar question with no definite answer:

There is a device called Tesla on my PC network and I do not know what - Microsoft Community

However, after some deeper search I do found a relevant discussion which might be the answer: ‎Unknown devices popping up with BGW320-500 | AT&T Community Forums (att.com)

    As the poster finally conclude:

I have identified the problematic device - it is Tesla solar panel "gateway". It seems that it keeps requesting an IP address using a different MAC every time. I suspect it exhausted the previous gateway of available IP addresses to give out to a new device and that there was nothing actually wrong with it. I may have had a perfectly functioning device replaced thinking it was the one that broke.

I suspect you are constantly being requested to connect by some nearby Tesla device which might have network feature. And the thing happened after update might be some policy change of your system which might cause this kind of incident.

    May I know:

    • Could you give me a screenshot about the screen which you viewed the Tesla device, and also the detail information you can get about that device which we could found more clue about your problem.
    • Do you have any other computer at the same network with the problem pc which has the similar symptom? Especially laptop, after you move out the nearby range does this problem still exists.

I am sorry that I am not a network expert therefore I might have limit knowledge about the issue, let me know your thoughts.

    Best Regards
