Windows 10: What is the difference in setup files for windows 10 build 10162?

What is the difference in setup files for windows 10 build 10162?

One is in the root directory and the other is in the sources folder.

Here is my plans, once I am sure there is no storms.

I already got they way I want 7 retail to be upgraded.

Current setup & image

Primary Partition 1 empty (Ready for Windows 7 Seven oem to be put back on)
Primary Partition 2 windows 7 retail will upgraded to windows 10 build 10162
Primary Partition 3 empty partition (To prevent system reserved partition from being created)
Logical Partition 5 Xubuntu
Logical Partition 6 Linux swap file

After I done installing this will be my setup

Primary Partition 1 Windows 7 Oem
Primary Partition 2 Windows 10 preview 10162
Primary Partition 3 empty partition (To prevent system reserved partition from being created)
Logical Partition 5 Xubuntu
Logical Partition 6 Linux swap file

What is the difference between build 1511, and the initial build (July 2015)?

I have tried a couple of different configurations but the re-install still hangs. I'll follow some more of your suggestions, and try again later, when I've finished doing actual work on my computer.

I'm fairly computer savvy (I build my own), and my comp is running well. I'm just bemused about the build numbers.

I have build 10240, and windows update insists everything is up to date. I do NOT have build 1511 (10586).

Checking windows update history on the support website leads me to this:

There are two lists, one for 1511, and one for Windows Initial, which is what I have. Why are there two different lists, and what is the difference between them?

I have the initial build, and my winver is 10240. My system says all updates are complete and correct.

I have a recent ISO that has winver 10586. If I run it to re-install, ti always hangs at 26%. what's up?

 

Setup in Root will replace current OS.
Setup in Sources will let you set up a dual boot.
