Windows 10: what is the naming scheme for ms account on windows login ?

I was learning `hydra` tool of kali linux on my home network. When i use it to bruteforce on local account windows login at user: `sagar` and password :`Sam@#123` using :hydra -l sagar -P pw.list ssh://192.168.1.1 and it cracked bruteforcing using pw.list ...Now thinking that i try brute forcing into windows login but this time using microsoft account where the username at micorsoft is `san gam` and email used at microsoft is `*** Email address is removed for privacy ***` . I reverify the username in my settings and its the one i mentioned. so i tried:hydra -L user.list -P pw.list ssh://192.168.1.1 but this time it

What is the naming scheme for windows login associated to microsoft account ?

I was performing a `hydra` attack on my local network (laptop as host). I have a local account not associated with microsoft account and another account windows login associated with microsoft account. The password for both of the accounts is : `apple123` which is not the great password of course. Nevertheless, the more info

local account:

uname: shyam

account connected to microsoft windows login :

username at ms: san gam

gmail : *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

c:/users = SANGAM

For the local account 'hydra' was able to find username and password, but the one with ms connected is making me confused . I did try with all the usernames in the list `user.list` :

SANGAM



But it was unable to find any user pass combination. Is that because I am not aware of windows username naming scheme in case it is associated with microsoft or ms account connected user account is blocking those attacks ? Coz, all the conditions are constant as compared to brute force on local account.

I am not here to ask detailed information on how `hydra` works, well i would not mind learning if any of you reach out to me for better suggestion. My primary concern is that am I missing knowledge on 'what would be the username if the account login is connected with microsoft account ?'.

 

Login not accepted for my MS Account

Let me explain, again, what I have experienced:

• I use my MS account to unlock this computer. No problem doing that
• I attempted to use other apps requiring the MS login, like Outlook, or even this forum, and it would not accept the very same credentials I used to unlock the computer
• I used my wife's MS account to login to this forum so that I could seek help
• I have tried resetting my MS account twice, and that did not work either.

I would appreciate suggestions OTHER than wha I have already tried

 

No login password craziness

Brink, that was the missing step. What threw me off was in netplwiz, where it asks about password for my MS account, the user name was not the same as my MS account name. Once I entered the password (twice) I can now login without entering a password. In fact the name that was listed was not the MS account name, but a folder name. The folder is the one that shows when you click on C:\Users.
