What is the naming scheme for windows login associated to microsoft account ?

I was performing a `hydra` attack on my local network laptop as host. I have a local account not associated with microsoft account and another account windows login associated with microsoft account. The password for both of the accounts is : `apple123` which is not the great password of course. Nevertheless, the more infolocal account:uname: shyamaccount connected to microsoft windows login :username at ms: san gamgmail : *** Email address is removed for privacy ***:/users = SANGAMFor the local account 'hydra' was able to find username and password, but the one with ms connected is making me confused . I did try

  2. Windows Microsoft account authentication

I have a valid Microsoft account and a Windows 10 PC with Hello/PIN account login enabled. I also have the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on an iPhone and configured for the Microsoft account. Additionally, I have two step authentication configured
for the Microsoft account. With all of that said, I have become very exasperated while trying to unravel the various authentication paths (and their security implications) through this multi level login security scheme. I find the associated account security
documentation to be woefully inadequate. Thus, I would like to pose the following list of questions for starters.

    1. Does Windows Hello/PIN amount to a two step verification login procedure for my Microsoft account?

    2. Does approving a Microsoft Authenticator login attempt (without two step verification explicitly set up)

amount to a two step verification login procedure for my Microsoft account?

    3. Does approving a Microsoft Authenticator login attempt (with two step verification explicitly set up)

amount to a two step verification login procedure for my Microsoft account?

    4. If answers to both 2 and 3 are yes, then what does explicit set up of two step authentication do?

    5. Does a coherent, comprehensive document explaining Microsoft account security configuration exist somewhere?

    6. If the answer to 5 is yes, wherer is it?

    Thanks in advance.

    Change Windows Login Name

Did you already do step 5 in option 1 to apply for Windows?

I did step 5 and it changed my name on the lock screen to the email address associated with my Microsoft acct and not the name on my Microsoft acct.

However, the Skype name is separate from the MS account name if you are using the traditional desktop program. You can change the Skype name to match by opening Skype/Skype tab/My account which takes you to Skype account page. Click your picture/Skype alias/Edit profile on next page/Change name here/Save at page bottom. Good Luck

None of this works for me. I've tried. My Skype acct is synced with my Microsoft acct as well. Research I've done says to unsync it, but I'm not given that option on my Skype account.

    MICROSOFT ACCOUNT LOGIN

    Hi Arbaaz,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

In order to help you better, could you please confirm a couple of things:

    • Are you able to login with Microsoft account in web?
    • What happens exactly when you try to login using Microsoft account?
I suggest you to login to Microsoft account through online login.live.com, if you are able to login to Microsoft account on web then you can reset the password and then try to login and check if the issue persists.

Hope this information was helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.
