    What is the purpose of the secondary dialogue window when transfering files from one volume...


    This has been bugging me for a while. Why is there a secondary informational dialogue window when transferring files from one volume to another. I attached an image. The top box I am familiar with, giving details of files to be transferred and time remaining. The box just below this one titled "preparing to move" is the one that confuses me.


    It only pops up when I am transferring several gigs of data from one volume to another. And a new "preparing to move" dialogue is created for each directory in the root directory of the originating transfer. Hitting cancel on the "preparing to move" dialogue seems to have no effect on the transfer. The files still transfer and nothing is missing. I have seen it many times now on at least 5 separate systems. And ive only seen it on windows 10.

    No file transfer dialogue shows up


    I don't know when this first started happening, I just assumed stuff was transferring fast enough for it to not show up (only really moved small things). However, I got a small-ish SSD as a secondary drive for a few important things and want to test the general speed of it... but I can't, because no file transfer dialogue is showing up!!

    Any ideas as to why?

    Need Help Files Transfer

    I have a computer running Windows XP Home Edition. That computer has two internal HDDs:

    The 1st HDD is C:\ that running Windows. And it has 20GB total of capacity.
    The 2nd HDD is D:\ that is empty. And it has 90GB total of capacity.

    The C:\ drive is almost run out of space (full). Is there a way I can transfer everything in the C:\ drive to the D:\ drive and begin to use the D:\ drive from there on as primary drive?
    Can the Windows Files Transfer feature in XP transfer everything I have in C:\ to D:\? If it cannot, then which way can I use to perform the above step?

    Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

    Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

    Steps to confirm issue:

    • Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
    • Secondary drive not visible in device manager
    • Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

    Steps to replicate issue:

    • Installing 1909 update

    Steps to resolve issue:

    • Uninstall 1909 update

    Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.
