Windows 10: What is the solution for me not able to open the 'Change Product key' option ?

Hey, I did as instructed and here is the result. I don't know what to do now. This all started after my PC battery lost its charge storing capability.

As you are facing issues in entering the product key using the Change Product key option, let us try another method to use the key. Refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Type command prompt in the search bar on the
   Taskbar.
   
2. Right click on the command prompt icon and select
   Run as administrator.
   
3. Type in the following commands and hit Enter after each command:
   
   slmgr -upk
   
   slmgr -cpky
   
   slmgr -ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX (Replace XXXX with the product key)
   
   slmgr -ato

5 ways to change the Windows 10 product key.

METHOD 1: Change Windows product key through the configuration

The first thing you will have to do is access the Windows 10 Configuration, which you can do using the keyboard shortcut: Windows + I key. Once the window has been opened, you should go to Update and Security> Activation

Once you have selected the Security option on the left side of the screen, on the right side of it you will see the activation status of your device along with an icon in the form of a key that says: Change the Product key.

Click on this option and you will see how a new blue window opens in which you must enter the new product key you wish to use on your computer to activate the Windows 10 operating system.

METHOD 2: Change Windows product key from the system configuration.

In this case we must also access the Windows 10 configuration application using the keyboard shortcut: Windows + I key. Once the Configuration is displayed, you must do

Click on the System option.

When the next screen is displayed, you should look for and select the About option on the left side. This will make all information about the computer and operating system you are using, displayed on the right side of the screen. Scroll down until you find
and select the option: Change the product key or update the Windows edition.

This will take you to the end of Method 1 explained above, so you just have to continue with the steps already indicated.

METHOD 3: Change Windows product key from system properties.

In this case you will have to open the Windows File Explorer. When the window is open you should look in the left part of it for the This Equipment option. Once located, you must click with the right mouse button so that the context menu in which you should
select the Properties option will be filled.

This will open a new window, and in the lower right part of it will show the option Change product key, next to a shield. After clicking on it, a blue window will open in which you will have to enter the new product key that we will use to activate Windows
10.

METHOD 4: Change Windows product key by running SLUI.exe

In this case we will have to use the search of Windows 10, that is to say in the search field we will have to introduce the term SLUI so that said option is shown among the search results. Once this is so, you must select that option.

This will automatically show the blue window in which you will have to enter the new product key you want to use to activate Windows 10

METHOD 5: Change Windows product key from CMD (Command Prompt)

In this case the first thing we have to do is open the CMD tool with administrator rights, but you know how to do this, in the following link is shown step by step: How to run System Symbols as Administrator in Windows 10, 8.1 or 7.

Once in the CMD interface, we must enter and execute the following command:

Obviously in the command you must replace the text: xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx, by the numbers and letters corresponding to the new Windows key you wish to use to activate the operating system.

• Enter your old product key and try to change product key
• Use the new product and check if you are able to activate.
