Windows 10: What is the status of the resolution for Security Update KB5040442

Like a lot of my fellow users here, I have been caught up in the Bit Locker ID fiasco regarding the most recent security update. I have never set up a bit locker ID and when I go to search for it on the Microsoft log in site where you have directed me, there is nothing there. I have spent hours trying to resolve this through forums, videos, the command prompt screen all no success. What is the status of the resolution to be rolled out and are there any current alternatives for those of us who do NOT have a bit locker ID but it still requests one and the system will not allow us to reset the sy

Firstly, try to install all the available Windows Updates and check if it fixes the issue.

I suggest you to change the screen resolution settings and check if it fixes the issue. Follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key and type Change Screen Resolution and click on the option listed.
• Under resolution try changing the resolution settings.

Also try to install the latest drivers from the manufacturer website and check.

A simple solution but one that works in most circumstances!

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.
