Windows 10: what is the unidentifiable local admin account that my pc defaults to on login?

Hi, when I fire up my laptop, it defaults to an "Admin" account that I have no pin or password for. Every time, I have to select my MS account to login. This is an admin account, and when I go to manage accounts in Settings, I see no other account to delete. This leaves me wondering where this "Admin" account has come from and how I can get rid of it so that Windows loads to my MS account directly. Thanks!

Locked Out of Admin Account

1. Are you using a Microsoft account or a local account?
   
2. Which version of Windows 10 you are using currently?
   
3. Is the other user account an admin account?
   

I suggest you to try using the on screen keyboard at the login page and check if you are able to login to the PC.

1. At the login screen click on the
   ease of access icon at the bottom right hand corner.
   
2. Click on the on screen keyboard to open it.
   
3. Type the password and try to login.
   

If you are using a Microsoft account, I suggest you to refer the article on

how to reset your Microsoft account password.



However, if you are using a local account, then I suggest you to refer the article on

reset your Windows 10 local account password.



Note: While performing these steps, there might be a risk of data loss. You may take a backup of the data before performing the steps.

Use a Local user Account to login to Windows 10 PC

I suggest you to follow the below steps to convert the Microsoft Account you are using to a Local Account.

• Sign in to your Microsoft account.

  Click Start and then PC settings.

  Click Users and accounts and under your Profile select “Sign in with a local account instead ” option.

• 
  Type in a Username, Password, and Password Hint that you want set for your Local account and click

Local Account password changed to Online Account Password

Hi,

I suggest you to follow the steps on how to switch from Microsoft account to Local account:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Local account instead.
• Enter your Microsoft account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the Local account and click OK.
• Now, login to Local account.
