Windows 10: what is the weird dropdown below the address bar in file explorer?

This pops up all the time when I click the address bar to ctrl+c the current path, how do I stop it? whatever tab I'm on, that dropdown will show that tabs path but it will then persist on every tab with the same path, not the path of the current tab, so if I click on it takes me to a random location. I have no idea what it is even supposed to do. I want it gone.

Disable File Explorer Address Bar Path History?

Hello,

After entering a file path manually in File Explorer, the entry is kept in the dropdown list of the address bar until I go to View > Options > Clear File Explorer History. I'd like Windows to never store these paths, if possible.

I have successfully disabled autocomplete via the registry using the following guide, but it doesn't prevent the history of file paths to be stored: Turn On or Off Inline AutoComplete in File Explorer and Run Dialog

I've searched and searched but can't find a solution to this, yet. Hopefully someone has something to suggest that I haven't tried. I know it's possible, since I believe I had it working on my last Win10 machine, but I'm not sure how I did it.

Using the file explorer address bar

I don't remember seeing this before either. Perhaps now what happens when using a local account?
