Windows 10: What is this default app and also why couldn't I close Edge?

Hi, when I check my default browser it shows 2 Microsoft Edges 1 is blank 1 is the normal logo. Is this normal? Also, I got this "suggested popup" for a Minecraft Live recap which opens Edge and I can't close it until I go through the set up sync popup which I am also wondering if that is normal as I couldn't even Alt+f4 out of it.

How to delete Suggested Sites in Win 10 Edge

Hi Annu,

Neither worked.

Proxy server for LAN wasn`t checked, and after I carried out Step 1 I couldn`t get Edge or IE11 to load. And none of my Bookmark bar links worked.After carrying out a reboot I got Edge back , and the links were working ,but of course my most used sites had
cleared.And I still couldn`t remove the Suggested Sites.

Although this Suggested Sites is annoying, because it never shows any suggested sites, and I can`t get rid of it, I think I`ll just leave "well enough alone!"

changing default search engine to google from Bing in IE Edge

To change the default search engine on Windows Edge.

Step One: Open Microsoft Edge

Step Two: type in the search engine into the browser address such as (www.google.com)

Step Three: Click on the three dots top right below the x (close button)

Step Four: Click on settings

Step Five: Scroll and click on Advance Settings

Step Six: Scroll to Search in the address bar with click within the box

Step Seven: Click on Add NEw

Step Eight: Your search engine should be listed Click on it

Final Step: select your choice of:

Add as default

Add

 

Searching in Start menu goes to IE instead of default browser (Edge) in Windows 10.

To set Microsoft Edge as the default browser app, please follow the steps below:

• Click on the Start menu>Settings>System>Default apps.
• Choose Web browser then select Microsoft Edge.
• Close the windows to save.
