Windows 10: What is this drive E:?

    What is this drive E:?


    I have a DELL T1700 which I purchased refurbished 7 years ago. I had the seller replace the hard drive with an SSD solid state drive. There is a drive E: which file Explorer signifies as unformatted. In [Computer Management] [Storage] [Disk Management] [shrink volume] shows the size before shrink is zero. There is no display of it in [Computer][Management].

    What is E:? Where is E:? I want to make an E: partition. Should I worry about deleting it or might it be safer to try to rename, if possible.

    E Drive

    The drive would have to be assigned the letter E in disk management for it to show up as E.

    Press Windows key + X

    Click Disk Management

    If you see your drive listed there, but no drive letter, right click it

    Click Change Drive Letter and Paths

    Click Add

    Click Assign the following drive letter

    Click in the Drive letter list box

    Choose a drive letter - try choosing letters near the end of the alphabet

    Click OK

    Click OK again

    What is this drive E:?

    Changed the 'downloads' location to E-Drive. Couldn't reverse!!

    But the problem is whenever I click the properties of Downloads
    folder, it is showing the properties dialog box of E-drive partition. How could I solve this?
